Dear Readers:
This issue is very special: One of the editors of J.UCS, Jean-Michel
Muller ( Lyon, France ) organized a conference dedicated to the manipulation
of real numbers at Saint-Etienne (near Lyon) in June 95. The top
papers submitted were reviewed once more by Jean-Michel and colleagues. The
very best were selected and edited to conform to J.UCS format.
It is those papers that make up this issue of J.UCS. I would like to thank
Jean-Michel for his excellent work. He has added some remarks separately
below.
