Curriculum Vitae:

  • Background

    • Kevin Curran is a lecturer in Computer Science with the University of Ulster, Magee College. Kevin has specialist skills in networking/programming. He has worked with the Telecommunications & Distributed Research Group in Coleraine University on research into networking multimedia over the Internet from 1996-1999. He is now continuing his research with the Enterprise Systems Research Group in Magee.

  • Professional Experience

    • Kevin Curran first worked in industry in a London based software house in 1990. Since then, he has programmed in various languages including C, C++ and Java. Since 1996 he has been involved in research into telecommunications and lecturing at the University of Ulster. He started his lecturing post in Magee in June 1999.

Main Research Interests:

  • networked multimedia
  • reflection and meta-object protocols
  • hierarchically encoded audio/video transmission
  • motion prediction algorithms for mobile devices
