• 1989 - B.Sc. degree in computer science from the University of the Faroe Islands
• 1995 - M.Sc. degree in computer science from the University of Copenhagen
• 1998- Ph.D. degree from the University of Copenhagen under the supervision of Associate Professor Pawel Winter.
