Born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Study of Mathematics at the University of Saarbruecken, Germany, Diploma 1965. Research and teaching assistant 1965 - 1970, Ph.D. in Mathematics/Computer Science (Dr.rer.nat.) 1970, at the same University. Employee in the pharmaceutical industry (Boehringer Mannheim, Germany; E. Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) 1970 - 1975; simultaneously Professor for Organizational Theory and Data Processing ('Stiftungslehrstuhl') at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, 1971 - 1975. Full Professor for Applied Computer Science at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, since 1976.
Main Research Interests:
- applied mathematics/theoretical computer science (finite automata, linear automata)
- biometry and statistics (design and evaluation of biological and medical studies; design, development and implementation of statistical evaluation systems; statistical algorithms
- database management systems, database supported information and control systems, distributed systems (methods and applications)
