- Computer Science: complexity, efficient algorithms, connections between the complexity of algorithmic problems and the structure of the regarded class of objects
- Decision support by business intelligence in the area of finance: genetic algorithms and fuzzy logic as tools to support trading strategies at the stock market
- Logic: model theory and algorithmic questions, second order logic, generalized quantifiers, decidability, descriptive complexity
- Graph Theory: algorithmic graph theory, graph minors, bounded tree width
