Dear Readers:
It is with pleasure that I can present to you this Special Issue of
J.UCS, dedicated to the important area of Algorithmic Information
Theory, an issue compiled by one of the leading specialists in this
field, and a long-term friend of mine, Cris Calude, from the
University of Auckland.
I believe this substantial issue is a "must" for all working and doing
research in Algorithmic Information Theory. It will continue to help
establish J.UCS as one of the important electronic resources in computer
science.
Please note that the first paper, "The Finite, the Unbounded an the
Infinite", is a survey and an introduction to this issue by the guest
editor, Cris Calude, who I cordially thank for compiling this
interesting collection of papers.
Do enjoy reading this issue! I am happy to report that a number of
further special features are coming up soon, the next (on Distance Teaching)
already as next issue (June 96).
With best wishes,
Hermann Maurer
